June 4, 2019, marks the 100 year anniversary of the U.S. Senate passing the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote in America. The U.S. Congress passed it two weeks earlier. Wisconsin was one of the first states to ratify it less than a week later.

Our firm specializes in elder law. We have clients who are 100+ years old. To think that women we represent were born during a time when their right to vote was not guaranteed is just mind-blowing. There are many heart-breaking stories of the struggles and sacrifices that eventually convinced the Congress and Senate to recognize women as equals in this experiment we call democracy. To quote one of my favorite songs from Marry Poppins: "Well done, sister suffragettes!" Your daughters daughers do adore you.

And yet, we have so much more work to do.
